The ancestors of the artist and his two younger twin sisters Charlotte and Samantha, who immigrated from Austria and Lithuania at the end of the 19th century, had the surname Aaronson, but the boy’s paternal grandfather shortened it to a more convenient and not so clearly related to the Jewish roots option Ronson. The extensive family tree of the Ronson family gave Britain major entrepreneurs and politicians, and Mark was destined to become a show business star.

In the early 80s, Mark’s mother Ann divorced his father Lawrence Ronson, a businessman and producer, and Mick Jones became her second husband. His stepfather lived in New York, where he had a music studio, and Mark spent his childhood surrounded by such rock stars as Johnny Hallyday, Billy Joel and Van Halen, who collaborated with Meek for many years. Spending most of his time in the States, the boy met every vacation with Lawrence, his father, so the formation of his musical taste was influenced by both the classic traditions of American rock and Britpop, the era of triumph of which was the time for Mark to grow up.

In New York, Mark lived in his stepfather’s house in Manhattan, studied at a private school and was friends with Sean Lennon. After graduating from school, the young man entered Vassar College, and then to New York University.

The unique style of the young musician, harmoniously combining different directions and stylistic devices, attracted the attention of fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger and he invited Mark to become part of his advertising campaign team as a composer and DJ at a luxurious fashion show in 1997. The following year, P. Diddy himself hired Mark as a DJ for his birthday, which was undoubtedly a kind of advertisement and had an impact on the growth of the young artist’s popularity.

In the early 2000s, Ronson began working on his first record, the tracks of which he recorded with Ghostface Killa, Aya, Q Tip, Jack White and other popular rap artists. In the US, “HereComes the Fuzz” was not particularly successful, but in Britain it became the event of the musical year, earning favorable reviews and rave reviews.

The year 2004 is officially considered the year of the founding of the Allido Records label, the first projects of which were the rappers Saigon and Rhymefest.

Trying his hand as a producer, Mark continued to write music for various projects and worked on the second album, which brought him popularity both in Britain and in the States. “Version” was released in 2007 and was very different from the first record, in it Mark presented his vision of the hits of the famous British The Smiths, The Charlatans, Radiohead and Coldplay.

In the same year, Mark signed a contract with Amy Winehouse, and the result of their joint work was the legendary “Back to Black”. In early 2008, Mark won the Grammy in several categories at once, including as the best producer.
