Intelligency is a techno band from Belarus that performs electronic music with elements of blues and jazz. They went to popularity for a long time, but only one song called “August” provided take-off.

Group Intelligency: how the composition was formed

The history of the Belarusian team started on May 9, 2013. The initiators were Vsevolod Dovbnya and Yury Tarasevich from Minsk. In the same place, in their hometown, they recorded the first samples of their work. At first it happened in a rented apartment, later the duo moved to the walls of a makeshift studio at st. Oktyabrskaya, 25. Yura was responsible for the music – he gradually mastered the drum machine and drums. Seva wrote the words. The guys did not pursue hard and aggressive sound. They immediately started working towards light melodic techno and deep.

Tracks and song fragments were written in live mode and many debut compositions came out with improvisation. Seva was launching a project called Paradise Avenue when guitarist Evgeny Murashko, also from Minsk, joined the band. Starting recordings sounded on the streets of Minsk – apartment houses, street and yard parties. But the trio’s creative biography did not particularly stick, and the company even parted for some period. In 2014, the musicians gathered again and bass guitarist and keyboardist Mikhail Stanevich joined the young people.

Four charged guys officially founded the band Intelligency. In February 2015, in this line-up, they first went to the concert stage and performed 2 of their own compositions. The band members themselves assess the performance as far from ideal. This was followed by new tracks and the first fan audience began to gather. At the same time, an official community for VK listeners was created, followed by Instagram.

The “intellectuals” defined the direction of their music as techno-jazz and techno-blues. They put special emphasis on the influence of light street dances. Until 2019, the band had 2 full-length albums – “Feel the …” and “Doloven”. Over time, fans have noted a strong progress in the sound of singles. In the spring of 2019, attention was paid to the Belarusian quartet by the project “Songs on TNT”, where they performed the song “Eyes” and were highly appreciated by Basta and Timothy.

In the summer of the same year, the group released a track, the hit fate of which the musicians did not suspect. The release of “August” by Intelligency was associated with the end of summer, and the words “ceiling” and “bottom” gave a passive coloring to the song. In one of the few interviews, Seva Dovbnya said that “August” accidentally became viral thanks to an Internet meme. A melodic, wordless chorus was overdubbed with Benedict Cumberbatch’s laid-back dance at an American show. Thus, the techno masterpiece entered the Shazam charts and, at the beginning of spring 2020, was already ranked 30th in the world ranking.

Biography of Intelligency members

The quartet Intelligency before the recording of “August” was formed from talented and original guys who masterfully combine live and electronic music. The popularity grew steadily and touched the hearts of fans from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine and even Poland. But young people are in no hurry to share the details of their personal lives. Judging by their social media pages, either they are fully occupied with work, or they do not want to show their personal biography to the public.

Rising to the rank of celebrities “Intelligency”:

Seva Dovbnya is the central vocalist, owns a guitar solo. Information about age and date of birth is hidden. Also, Vsevolod does not at all talk about his past before his musical career and about his family status. The only girl who is often next to the Intelligency group is Ekaterina Razumovskaya. She is an artist and concert photographer. But since Katya does photosets for many Minsk teams, there is no reason to talk about a personal connection with Seva. In the photo albums of the soloist, there are only 2 joint pictures with another red-haired girl, and those were taken back in 2014.

Yuri Tarasevich – responsible for keyboards and percussion. Also, according to Seva’s friend and fans, he is “the god of the drum machine.” It is Yuri who creates a pleasant sound for the songs. It was he who created such a penetrating overflow of the melody for the hit “August”. He was born on October 27, 1992, and every birthday he receives congratulations from the team in the official Vkontakte group. The Internet does not contain any specifics about the personal life of the composer.

Evgeny Murashko is an ardent guitarist and backing vocalist. The exact age is unknown, his birthday is July 23. In the column “work” on the personal page of VK, a Minsk IT company is indicated. The guy is a real guitar fanatic – he offers lessons on how to play the instrument on instagram and twitter. Whether the place of the beloved of the young musician is occupied is unknown. There are some shots with girls, but they do not guarantee a romantic connection.

Mikhail Stanevich – responsible for the bass guitar and keys. Date of birth is completely hidden. Misha has a creative nature – he creates hand-made products and writes sincere poems. The lyrical words of his works are saturated with unhappy love. The object of torment is probably a person named Kira from the city of Ulan-Ude. In April 2019, the couple met in St. Petersburg, as evidenced by the posted photos on Stanevich’s page.

The work of “intellectuals” now

In 2020, Intelligency’s “August” track’s rapid rise in listeners is also linked to the TikTok platform. Millions of site users took the song for their videos. In March of this year, the single became the main one in the new album “Renovatio”. The digital “disc” includes 12 audio recordings. The group’s YouTube channel has a 50-minute video filmed in an interesting format. In the frame – soloist Seva, with a phone and headphones, just walks around the city, accompanied by compositions from a fresh album. Also, footage from the filming of the video for “August” appeared on the VK wall.

Intelligency plans to continue to build a successful “intelligent” biography of the band from new tracks. The guys are preparing for tours in the CIS. In addition, in mid-March 2020, the team signed a contract with the Warner Music label. According to Vsevolod in the comments to one of the Instagram posts, a big team interview will be released soon. Perhaps the musicians will lift the veil on their personal lives and family affairs.
