Sasha was born in 1973 (day and month of birth are not yet known) in Ohio to a Scottish professor of geology and an American diplomat serving in Africa and the Middle East. The young family first lived in Africa, but then the parents divorced, and Alexandra began to live in Mexico City with her mother. In Mexico, the girl attended a British school, then studied at the Thomas Jefferson School in Missouri (USA), and then moved with her mother to Paris.
