Havana is a Romanian trio that is going to conquer the musical pop space and has been doing it quite successfully so far. It is likely that the guys will be able to repeat the success of their eminent compatriots – the Akcent group, who gained popularity all over the world thanks to such hits as “Kylie” and “That’s My Name”.
Biography of the Romanian band Havana
There is no information about the group even in the Romanian Wikipedia, but a lot has been found out. Havan’s project was created in 2014 by musicians Sorin (Crush) and Vanotek, along with vocalist Nadir.
The latter was born in Tripoli (Libya) and from an early age was fond of music. As a solo singer, Nadir released several well-known compositions in Romania, in particular “Culoarea ta” and “Mana in mana”. He has collaborated with Randi, J. Yolo, Uddi and others. Since 2017, the voice of Havana is no longer Nadir, but Raul Erecep, the finalist of KIDSing 2014 and X Factor 2016. At the X Factor, fifteen-year-old Raul impressed the jury of the song contest with an incredible performance of the song “Please Forgive Me” by Bryan Adams. He is a Crimean Tatar by nationality.
Vanotek produced, worked with the mega-popular Dan Balan and several Romanian artists: Anda Adam, Sasha Lopez, Naguale and others.
Sorin is also a producer and, in addition to Havana, is part of a group with a rather rich history – Crush. Together with Radu and Alexandra Ungureanu, Sorin released two successful studio albums in the 2000s. Crush is a successful band in Romania, but almost nothing is known about it abroad, unlike Havana.
Creativity of the team
The most famous composition of Havana was “Ecoute”, performed in collaboration with Alexandra Stan. Since May 2016, the video for this song has received more than 80 million views. The track entered the charts in Bulgaria, Poland, Romania and Turkey. Lyrics are written in English and French by Nadir, Alexandra Chirrrau, Sorin and Vanotec and the track was produced by Luigi Ensiu.
Another famous composition is “I Lost You” (2018), performed together with the Arab singer Yaar (read his biography). The song “I Lost You” is also bilingual, but this time in Arabic-English. She was very fond of the Russian-speaking audience.
The third most popular is the Anglo-Italian hit “Vita Bella” (2015), which appealed to the inhabitants of France, Belgium, the Scandinavian countries, Bulgaria and Greece.
Tracks in two languages provide an opportunity to reach a wider audience and have an original sound.
Other songs of the group Havana:
- Vanessa;
- “Que Sera, Sera”;
- Mon amour;
- “Danza” (feat. Erik & J. Yolo);
- “Vivere” (feat. Ioana Ignat)
- Video works of the male trio are now published on the Cat Music YouTube channel.
