Biography of Andrey Kartavtsev

The small homeland of Andrei Kartavtsev is the city of Omsk, where he was born on January 21, 1972. The musician’s father was a worker, and his mother was an accountant. Like most Soviet boys, as a child he dreamed of a heroic profession, he wanted to be a pilot. Andrey was fond of music, according to him, always, after graduating from Omsk school No. 11, he entered the motor transport technical school, and already in his first year he became the vocalist of a student group.

After graduating from a technical school, the guy went to military service, and returning to his hometown in 1993, he created a team in which he performed his songs. Some sources say that the group was called “Azbuka Love”, but in the period 1993-1996 in Russia there was only one group with that name, in which Marina Volkova sang, performing under the pseudonym Barbie, and became famous after the release of the video clip for the song “Krasish you are eyelashes.

Until the early 2000s, Andrei participated in several projects, for example, in the Admiral MS club project, and wrote songs, and in 2000 he created the VersiA studio and began promoting young performers. The Omsk musician gained wide popularity after the release of Yuri Shatunov’s album “I Believe” in 2012, for which he wrote 7 songs. The cooperation between Andrey and the superstar of the 90s began after, not even hoping for luck, Kartavtsev sent the famous singer a recording of the song “I don’t want to”. According to Andrei, when he heard the voice of a man who introduced himself as Yuri Shatunov rang out on the telephone, he did not believe it, and the celebrity even had to sing the chorus from the song “White Roses” to convince him.

The long-awaited success inspired the Omsk performer. Since 2017, he began to release video clips for his own songs and won recognition from a wide audience. Kartavtsev has written more than twenty compositions, and their clips have gained millions of views in the Russian YouTube space. The audience noted the lyricism of the musical production and the soulful voice of Andrei, singing about the most important thing for any person – about love.

Songs by Andrey Kartavtsev

According to Andrey, the purpose of his work is to try to convey to people the value of human relationships, the importance of the ability to forgive and not exchange one’s life for petty insults. Unfortunately, there is no information about the early works of the Omsk singer, poet and composer, and the only song of the initial period of Kartavtsev’s work that can be found on YouTube is the song “Jacket”. In the video, to light dance music, Andrey and his friend are dancing in a typically furnished Soviet apartment, and the words “she shot with her eyes, seduced me, turned around abruptly and left me”, performed by a piercing boyish voice, cannot leave indifferent as a mature generation yearning for a bygone youth , and very young connoisseurs of pop music.

Andrey’s songs written by him after 2010, as well as ringtones, can be listened to and downloaded on social networks and popular Internet sites, many of them were combined into a collection (album), which the author originally planned to call “Drawings”, but later settled on titled “The Future is in the Past”. The musician himself does not consider the collection to be the quintessence of his work, but, according to fans, it includes the best that was written by Kartavtsev in the period from 2013 to 2018. The compositions “Don’t tear my soul, pour it out”, “The Deceiver and “None of Us Is Guilty” deserve special love, in which the author managed to combine the tendencies of the early Modern Talking Eurodisco and the classic Russian chanson.

The video clip for the lyrical ballad “Don’t Doubt Never” became popular, and in the summer Andrey published on YouTube a video for the compositions “Mom” and “You Thought”, which, quite expectedly, gained tens of thousands of views in the very first days and earned warm reviews from listeners.
